The City of Palm Bay is excited to unveil Palm Bay Fire Rescue's new Training Tower and Burn Building, located alongside Fire Station 5 at 1525 Foundation Park Drive SE. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 10:00am. The event is open to the public and members of the media.
The Training Tower and Burn Building will facilitate basic fire ground skills training and live fire burns and can also accommodate advanced technical rescue training. The addition of this new training facility will allow the department to conduct more frequent trainings on a wide variety of skills while saving the City more than $10,000 a year in training facility rental fees. The 3-acre parcel also provides space for expansion to accommodate future training needs. The current focus is training the department's instructors on the intricacies of fire behavior burns and live fire training guidelines. Ultimately, this facility will strengthen all member's skills and abilities through proficiency training and enhance firefighting tactics and deployment through live fire evolutions. This training facility will allow all members to build their effectiveness and efficiency in operations to protect the community.
The new training facility cost around $700,000. and was funded through fire impact fees.
